What, Who & How

What, Who & How

What? OpenUP Hub is an open, dynamic and collaborative knowledge environment that systematically captures, organizes and categorizes research outcomes, best practices, tools, and guidelines relevant to review-dissemination-assessment phases of the research lifecycle through the prism of Open Science.

Who? OpenUP Hub addresses all key stakeholders engaged in the research lifecycle: researchers, young scholars, educators, publishers, R&I project members, policy makers & funders, IT providers and citizens.

How? OpenUP Hub is an integrated solution that supports the community needs by offering the right tools for the relevant stakeholders to open up science. It provides a Toolbox of tailored-made solutions and trainings, anObservatory that senses the community pulse, a Blog and a Q&A forum to promote the two-way communication and a Calendar to share major events of the field.

Responsible Research & Innovation

OpenUP Hub adopts an innovative approach for releasing and disseminating research results related to peer review, innovative dissemination, and alternative metrics in Open Science with an aim to develop governance for the advancement of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).
RRI is an approach that anticipates and assesses potential implications and societal expectations with regard to research and innovation, with the aim to foster the design of inclusive and sustainable research and innovation. Furthermore, it implies that societal actors (researchers, citizens, policy makers, business, third sector organisations, etc.) work together during the whole research and innovation process in order to better align both the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society.
Taking this account, OpenUP Hub is implemented with the focus to public engagement in research and innovation, enabling easier access to scientific results, the take up of gender and ethics in the research and innovation content and process, and formal and informal science education.

.

Gender

Gender is one of the key components of RRI as well as the European Commission’s overall approach to promoting a culture of openly sharing information among researchers, innovative industries and citizens.
OpenUP Hub provides a set of validated practical policy and implementation recommendations and guidelines for EU, national and institutional policymakers to support the transition to appropriate and timely measures of quality assurance, dissemination of research, and impact measurement. They will be a valuable tool in supporting decision makers to evaluate needs for and prioritisation of supportive actions for advancing a more open and gender-sensitive science system.
