Open Science is changing how scientists and scholars collect their data, present and share their research, publish their findings, reach out to other communities and the public and assess the impact of their work. This workshop is about Open Science and you: what’s in it for you?

This workshop aims to help participants discover what tools and platforms are out there and how researchers can implement Open Science into their daily scientific routines.  Open practices will be explored, with attention to differences between scientific disciplines and additionally it displayed the added value that open approaches can generate for the researchers themselves.

The aim of the workshop is to provide researchers and administrators with hands-on examples of Open Science tools and workflow examples across various disciplines and to start applying and discussing these.

On the first day, Bianca Kramer and Jeroen Bosman (Univ. of Utrecht) will present an overview of Open Science practices and tools that are used throughout the scientific workflow. More specifically, three phases of the scientific workflow will be analysed: Phase #1: Preparation, Discovery & Analysis; Phase #2: Writing and Publishing and Phase #3: Outreach and Assessment.

The second day is oriented at application, sharing and discussing. In various rounds you will explore and where possible try out or apply tools and practices. You will do this in small groups and individually and also in a lively marketplace. In the final session, there will take place a discussion on obstacles and incentives for switching to open science in your own workflow.
